In addition to the Coat of Arms, Vincenc kindly provided the following details:
Dear Brian,
1. - I inherited the coat-of arms from my great great grandfather Giacomo (Jacopo) De Toni
(he was married to Orsola Shia), who lived in Trelli/Furlania. His son Vincenzo De Toni
moved in 1880 to Slovenia and I am a direct ancestor of this family in Slovenia.
2 - Text under the coat-of-arms: ARMA DE TONI - VINCENZO DE TONI - TROVASI A CARTE 175
CAVATA NEI LIBRI DI ANTONIO BANA IN CONTRADA St.MARGHERITA, IN MILANO 1767 (Translation:
The De Toni coat-of-arms can be found on page 175 from the book by Antonio Bana, district
St Margherita, in Milan, 1767).
3 - The only information I have is that Giacomos father came somewhere from the North, I
have no other details.
4 - The authenticity of the coat-of-arms is proved by the fact that when Vinzenzo De Toni
moved to Slovenia, he had to submit his birth certificate and coat-of-arms along with a
confirmation in order to get married with Francisca Mekinda. Unfortunately, many documents
got lost in Slovenia between World War One and World War Two.
5 - You have my permission to post it on the site.
Yours truly,
Vincenc
